Birmingham is one of the UK’s major economic centres, yet a lot of people here struggle to make ends meet. We know that a better way is possible and we’ll get there by:
People created these systems and people will transform them. By supporting each other we can build community power to tackle economic injustice.
Targeted campaigning and advocacy will help us limit the harms being done by the current systems and seed new fairer ideas.
Some of our economic systems were designed to exclude and harm people, so we’re designing alternatives that prototype and imagine better ways of serving our communities.
Birmingham’s economy needs to transform to meet the needs of our communities — and we need strong relationships and a shared vision of the future to meet the scale of the challenge ahead of us. By working, imagining, strategising, and taking action together, we can make real economic change in Birmingham.

Economic Justice Brum is supported by The Barrow Cadbury Trust as part of its work exploring how to make a fairer, more inclusive, sustainable Birmingham where everyone can thrive.
The Trust believes that economic justice in Birmingham will be won through a multi-layered approach: supporting personal empowerment to enable people to influence policy and practice. campaigning and advocating for change, and supporting organisations building alternative systems and approaches.
