WHY YOUR VOICE MATTERS

The economic story of the city needs to change, and change needs to happen with and for the people of Birmingham.

No matter our background, faith or colour, most of us want a better, fairer Birmingham for our families, friends, and neighbours. We work hard to make ends meet but often still come up short — and that’s because most of Birmingham’s economic systems, from housing and education to healthcare, are either broken or designed to benefit a few people at the expense of the rest.

Change is possible. By working together to understand each other’s experiences and to identify new approaches, we can help design a system that works for all of us.

Vesna (ACH)

  • There have been lots of interesting learnings and great speakers. A chance to link with people and organisations you may not have worked together with to create impact.

Hameed

  • What I’ve liked about EJB is that it brings people who are like-minded together and want to create economic justice in the city and Birmingham to be a fairer place for all. It has given me a lot of knowledge, skills and confidence to confidently talk about economic justice. It has given me a platform and networks to move forward with my approach to economic justice.

Charlie

  • It feels good to be part of something productive and organised. There is hope in this space which is something the city needs. It is good to be working with people who are all committed to meaningful change.

Charmaine

  • EJB  is a fantastic initiative and the way it is conducted is unique. I enjoy every meeting and learn so much as well as meet new people. The space and atmosphere allows you to be authentic yourself.

Stories of Impact

Learn more about the economy through the stories of friends and neighbours making change.

When we hear the word ‘economy’ we tend to think of it as an elite, highly specialised subject but that simply isn’t true. We can learn together. The more we understand each other’s experiences, the better we can design a system that works for all of us.
